RTCL Ambassador: Danielle Metcalfe

What’s your running “story”?

I started running again in August 2019 to help with my mental health. I ran on the treadmill for 30 minutes. Lockdown hit and the gyms shut. I then completed C25K and my love for running grew from there. I ran on my own until June 2021 when I joined a local running club. We do themed runs like Christmas and remembrance day. General club runs have now become part of my social life. I completed a half marathon in 2021. I suffered with an injury in my IT band causing me to stop in October 2021. With physio I’ve been able to get back, learning that I need to go steadier at times and listen to my body. I’m now training to be a run leader for my club and have a marathon booked for April 2022.
